Growing up in Southern California, local natives Nikki and Sander enjoyed catching the local waves in a surfing paradise. After years of traveling and founding other businesses, they decided it was time to bring all their favorite things together, and Surfhouse was born. Their vision was to help travelers discover the beach lifestyle, local surfing community, and good vibes that Leucadia, CA has to offer. There's no better way than a weekend stay at Surfhouse to become immersed in an authentic California experience and leave feeling like a local.
The Surfhouse website needed a more integrated and custom look with the booking engine hosted directly on the website. Driving sales toward the website could mean huge savings for the company; it also ensures a great experience for the guests from booking to returning home and cross-promotes Surfhouse's other offerings. The website needed to be mobile-friendly and many ways to increase security, from adding an SSL certificate to removing out of date plugins, a common problem on Wordpress.
Surfhouse's guests are adventurous and active. They move quickly and want an experience online that works for them on their preferred devices. They're used to quality design and curation, so the website needed to meet and exceed those expectations.
We moved the website to a more user-friendly platform with top-tier security protocols, implementing significant design changes in the process to clarify and organize the many offerings from Surfhouse. We embedded a booking system directly into the website and styled it to fit the theme, along with tracking pixels to monitor success. We highlighted a call-to-action (CTA) button in the top navigation bar and created additional CTAs for booking throughout the website to limit the number of clicks required to book a room. We created a mobile-adaptive solution for Surfhouse that they can manage and cleaned up the design and information architecture to ensure that every pixel on the screen is working toward the right goals. We loved this project and it's always a joy to work with people who are passionate about what they do.
Surfhouse's direct bookings increased from 25% to 80% as a result of the redesign, saving them booking fees and increasing overall revenue. The website is now easy to manage by their in-house staff and mobile users can access their website quickly and easily on their phones or tablets due to the new mobile-adaptive layout.
